How to Mod a Vehicle in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3
To complete the new Jumpstart Quests in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, you need to complete the task “Mod a Vehicle With a Machine Gun Turret or Grenade Launcher.” Sounds easy, right? However, the quest can be a bit confusing at first as the vehicle modding mechanic isn’t clearly explained.
To mod a Vehicle with a Machine Gun Turret in Fortnite, you need to find a red Turret crate and run it over while in a car. Yep, it’s that simple. It doesn’t matter if you crash into the Grenade or Machine Gun variant – just make sure it’s the red one. For your convenience, I have provided an image below that shows the kind of crate you are looking for:
After you find the right crate, just drive your vehicle right through it. The Machine Gun Turret will automatically be modded to your car, and the mission will instantly register the task as completed.
How to complete the “Mod a Vehicle With a Machine Gun Turret or Grenade Launcher” quest in Fortnite
The quickest way to complete the “Mod a Vehicle With a Machine Gun Turret or Grenade Launcher” quest in Fortnite is to land at the Nitrodrome. As soon as you land there, you will find a lot of vehicles you can hop into.
With that said, here are steps to quickly mod a vehicle in Fortnite:
- Land at the Nitrodome on your map, and immediately look for a vehicle.
- As soon as you find a car, speed away so you don’t get shot. Now drive around the area surrounding the Nitrodome and look for giant wooden crates on the ground.
- Look for a red grate with a giant Turret symbol on it, and run it over with your vehicle.
- Your vehicle will then automatically be modded with a Machine Gun Turret, which will complete the quest.
Where are Machine Gun Turrets in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3?
Machin Gun Turrets can be found in special crates, which spawn all across the map. However, here are the best locations where you can find a Machine Gun Turret or Grenade Launcher in Fortnite:
- Nitrodrome
- Pea Bois Tunnel (east of Nitrodrome bridge)
- Redline Rig
- Brutal Beachhead
- Snooty Steppes
Although they can spawn throughout the map, the best place to find a Machine Gun Turret in Fortnite is under the Pea Bois tunnel east of the Nitrodrome. As soon as you find a vehicle, drive over the metal bridge and head to the location marked on the map below:
The Machine Gun Turret crate can be found directly under the Pea Bois tunnel. If you don’t see the correct crate, then drive around the area until you find one. Or quit the match and head back to the spot again until it spawns. However, I was able to find one in multiple matches back to back, so it’s a pretty common spawn point.
As stated above, you can complete the quest by running over a Grenade Launcher crate as well. Both are easy to spot, as they will show up in red-labeled crates. Just hop in a vehicle and drive through them to instantly mod the weapon on top of your car.
