How to Move the FFXIV Chatbox

If the FFXIV chatbox is in the way or you’d rather have it somewhere else, moving to a better position is very easy. Here’s what you need to do.

How do I move the FFXIV chatbox on a PC?

If you’re on PC, moving the chat window in FFXIV literally takes a single click. To do so, click on the General tab under the chatbox and hold while pressing. You’ll see your mouse pointer turn into a fist.

Now, simply drag the box and move it wherever you’d like. I told you it was easy!

OK, how do I move the chatbox in FFXIV on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5?

For PS4 and PS5, it takes an extra step. First, enable Virtual Mouse Mode by clicking L1 and R3 simultaneously on your DualShock 4 or DualSense controller. Then, use the right stick to move the cursor.

Hover over the General tab under the chatbox and press and hold L2. When your cursor turns into a fist, use the right stick to move it to your desired position. Don’t let go of L2 until you’re done! Press L1 and R3 again to close Virtual Mouse Mode.

You can use the same method if you’re using an Xbox controller on your PC. Use LB and L3 to enable Virtual Mouse Mode and hold LT to move the chat window.
