How to Pay Off a Bounty in Starfield

Whether you choose to be an upstanding galactic citizen or an evil one with your own agenda in Starfield, there is a strong chance you might get a bounty on your head at some point from one of the various factions. When this happens, no matter the reason, you may find you’ll need to pay it off to get around its consequences.

How to Remove a Bounty on Your Head in Starfield

First off, there are a few ways you can obtain a bounty on your head in Starfield. Basically if you do anything illegal like stealing, pickpocketing, lockpicking, murdering, assaulting, and so on, you’ll get a bounty on your head if someone catches you.

Typically, the bounties will be tied to the location and faction where you caused trouble. So, for instance, if you mess up in New Atlantis, the United Colonies will be after you. On the other hand, messing up in Neon might have the Freestar Collective on your tail.

Regardless of how and where it happens, the best way to get a bounty off your head is to head to a self-serve bounty tracker kiosk from the Trackers Alliance. They are an independent group who hunts down people for the bounties on them.

You can usually find these kiosks in most major settlements, generally near the spaceport where you land your ship or the bar. The easiest one to get to is at the bar to the left of where you enter New Atlantis. There you can interact with the kiosk and it will show you bounties from across the various factions in the game.

You can then pick to pay them off there and freely roam the galaxy again without worry. Because if you don’t, you’ll probably be sent to jail next time you ride into a faction’s territory or perhaps even worse.

Starfield is available on the Xbox Series X and PC.
