Like past Valkyria Chronicles games, Valkyria Chronicles 4 has certain squad members that can be unlocked by performing different actions in the game. Letting someone fall in battle or defeating a certain number of enemies are both ways to get certain folks on your side. If you want Mabel Drake, you need to force people to get to know one another.
Mabel Drake is a sniper who only becomes part of Squad E after you have completed three Squad Stories. Squad Stories are the additional missions that unlock after groups of about three soldiers work together enough to become “buddies.” The Aulard and Dan mission may be the first to unlock around chapter four, since it only requires two characters, but you need to unlock and complete two more before Mabel joins up.
Valkyria Chronicles 4’s Mabel is a rather determined woman who wants to be professional, not waste time, and perform her job. She arrives with the following three Potentials.
- Debater: She gets caught up arguing with people, decreasing her evasion.
- Soldier’s Honor: Their defense increases when they discover an enemy.
- Tranquil Fury: Taking interception fire only steels her further, increasing her defense and accuracy.
