How to Recruit Mellore in Eiyuden Chronicle

Soon after the time skip at the beginning of the game, you’ll be able to recruit Mellore into the Watch. To do this, head down the central street in the city of Etilweiss. South of the fountain, you’ll see a cutscene where Mellore first appears. Then head out of the city, and you’ll see another cutscene. From this point, head to the overworld in Grum County and go east to Redthroat Ridge.

Mellore will temporarily join the party here, but you need to complete this desert dungeon-like area and its boss to have her fully join. Go through the linear desert region to the boss at the end. This is essentially a game of whack-a-mole. Mellore sets up two books, one on the left and another on the right.

With each turn, you need to guess and attack which books the mole will pop up next to, and if you are right, you will deal with an immense amount of damage. Fortunately, if you are wrong, it seems the boss will keep doing the same book each turn until you pick it. After beating this boss, Mellore permanently joins the team.

Best Mellore Build Recommendations: Is She Good?

Mellore is a pretty solid magical DPS character early on in the story of Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. She has high magical damage stats and decent evasion, as well. Her MP is pretty high, and her HP is higher than you might expect for a ranged character like her. Keep her in the rear, though, and here are my recommendations for her build, including rune lenses and accessories:

  • Early Runes: Rune of Magic, Rune of Water (for healing spells), or Rune of Resistance
  • Accessory: Malachite Brooch (for more HP to keep her alive longer), Turqoise Brooch (to give her more MP to use spells), or Tanzanite Brooch (to make her powers more powerful).

Eiyuden Chronicle is available now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
