How to use a Brush Kit to Respec in Rise of the Ronin

Oddly, the game doesn’t really give you a rundown on how to Respec in Rise of the Ronin. In fact, it seems to specifically avoid mentioning any of this in tutorials until after you’ve basically already done the process. It’s simple to do and can be repeated as many times as you like. To be honest, you might find yourself staring at this option without even realizing its purpose.

To Respec in Rise of the Ronin, you need to get a Brush Kit. Getting your hands on this item is easy as it can be purchased at any of the Black Marketeers. Conveniently, there is even one stationed right outside your longhouse! Once you’ve snagged it, head into your longhouse and navigate to the Relax menu. Here, select Blade Repair. It’ll cost you the Brush Kit, but in return, it’ll wipe the slate clean on all your skills and even grant you the chance to pick a different Blade Sharpening Origin if you want.

Calling this option “Blade Repair” was needlessly confusing. I must’ve scrolled past it countless times, utterly clueless. Never would I have guessed that’s where you go to Respec. I didn’t learn that until curiosity got the better of me, and I went to find a Brush Kit to see what had happened.

Once you’ve made the decision to respec, you’ll find yourself at the skills screen, ready to tweak everything. Additionally, there’s absolutely no downside to this. You can do it as many times as your coin purse allows for Brush Kits. It’s a breath of fresh air to switch things up from time to time or to rectify any early mistakes you might’ve made in your build.

Rise of the Ronin is available exclusively on the PS5.
