The scouting system is one of the most important parts of exploration in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Scouts are a valuable resource that allows you to find quest objectives without the need for Guided Exploration in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This is why it is imperative you find out early how to salvage scouts and get more.

How to Salvage and Get Back Scouts
Scouts are how you explore the world map, especially if you have Guided Exploration off (which you will want if you want to get trophies or achievements). You will get various clues in each quest you do, such as going to a location south of Kyoto. But the game doesn’t show you the exact target, which is why you send out a scout to find the specific location.
Unfortunately, there are only two main ways to get a scout back once you use one. The first is by heading to the nearest Kakurega. These are fast travel points you can pay money to unlock. It costs a few hundred Mon to get a scout back here. If you prefer the free option, you will need to wait until the season changes. You can speed this up through fast traveling and completing quests.

How to Get More Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
When you first start using scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you will initially only have three of them to use at a time. And once those three are up, you’ll have to wait until the next season or pay money to use them again, the latter of which I don’t recommend. Thankfully, you can get more scouts through a couple of activities.
There are a select few quests in the world that will grant you more scouts, but they mostly optional. In addition, there are some upgrades you can do to the Hideout that will give you a bonus of earning more scouts to use. In total, the most scouts I have seen you can have in your supply at once is seven, so they are still relatively scarce.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
