The FFXVI Echoes of the Fallen DLC is now available, but those wondering how to start it need to get to the very end of the game. This is because, as Square Enix noted, you need to have completed some end-game quests tied to certain characters.
How do I start the FFXVI Echoes of the Fallen DLC?
Editorās Note: There will be spoilers for late-game FFXVI quests.

Basically, you need to be in the endgame if you want to begin the FFXVI Echoes of the Fallen DLC. This is right before you hit the āpoint of no returnā that takes you into the last quests and locks you out of returning to Cidās Hideaway. As Square Enix pointed out, this is the quest āBack to their Origin.ā That quest needs to be unlocked, but you canāt start or be in the middle of it. This quest unlocks after āStreets of Madnessā and the events in Waloed.
However, there is another requirement that must be fulfilled to see the option to start Echoes of the Fallen when talking to Charon at Cidās Hideaway. You need to have unlocked and finished the Jill sidequest āPriceless.ā This is because getting to that optional mission means you also completed one for Joshua called āWhere Thereās a Will.ā If youāve been doing all side quests as they come up, these should automatically be available around the same time as āBack to Their Origin.ā If you havenāt, Square Enix pointed out completing āCut from the Clothā and āPhoenix, Heal Thyselfā are prerequisites.
If those quests are all done and youāre at that point, go talk to Charon at her stall. Thatās right outside Cliveās room at Cidās Hideaway. When you talk to her, youāll find thereās an āEchoes of the Fallenā dialogue option between the Browse Charonās Toll one that lets you shop and āAsk about Goetzā option. This gives you the āEchoes of the Fallenā quest and lets you face new enemies, like Omega, and get new accessories.
Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PS5, with the Echoes of the Fallen DLC out now. The Rising Tide DLC will appear in Spring 2024. A PC version of the game is also on the way.
