How to start the Beyond the Dawn DLC

First and foremost, make sure to own the Beyond the Dawn DLC before you try to start it. You can buy the DLC separately from the base game, but you need to own both before you can play it. Once you have the DLC purchased, make sure to update the game if you haven’t already to the latest patch.

From there, open up the game and it will take you to the main menu. Here, you want to look at the option at the bottom known as “Beyond the Dawn.” Click on it and this will take you to a separate start-up screen, similar to the one for the base game. Here, you have the options to start a new game, load up an existing save, change the settings, and so on.

Since you are starting Beyond the Dawn for the first time, you’ll want to pick a new game. Note that you have to start a new game entirely to play the DLC. You are unable to load your existing main game save and use everything you got from there on this DLC expansion. You could almost think of them as separate experiences in this way.

Should You Play the Base Game First?

While you can play Beyond the Dawn without ever touching the main game, you shouldn’t do that. The DLC doesn’t bring you up to speed well and it takes place one year after the events of the main story, so it has no problem spoiling everything right off the bat. Plus, if you play the base game first, you’ll get some in-game rewards for this DLC.

You’ll still start at level 75 no matter what, but you can get extra Gald currency, items, SP for upgrading Artes, and more depending on how far you got in the base game. So, be sure to play Tales of Arise first.

Tales of Arise and its DLC Beyond the Dawn are available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
