If you are hours into your game and don’t know how to access your ship’s cargo, that is totally understandable! The feature is not only semi-hidden, but certain Starfield ships are absolutely massive and are mazes to get through. Thankfully, there is a specific location on your ship that you can quickly access anytime to transfer your items.

To store items on a ship in Starfield, head to the cockpit and look for the Cargo Hold switch on the wall. Regardless of your craft’s design, every ship has its Cargo Hold located next to the pilot’s seat. Simply put your cursor over the Cargo switch and press the X button on your controller to transfer items from your character to your ship. That’s it!

How do I increase my ship cargo size in Starfield?

As you progress through the story, you will unlock bigger Starfield Ships with more inventory space. However, if you want to increase your Cargo Hold size, you will need to purchase ships from Spaceports and Ship Vendors. If you complete the Mantis puzzle quest, you actually get the Razorleaf ship for free, which has one of the biggest storage spaces in the game.

The Starfield “Payloads” Skill is another option you can take to increase your ship’s storage. The Tech Skill tree perk increases your ship’s Cargo Hold space by as much as 50% at Rank 4.
