How to Switch Between Naoe and Yasuke

Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes players all the way back to the Syndicate days with the dual protagonist system. With the two main characters of Naoe and Yasuke, players will want to switch between them at will in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. There are, thankfully, a few ways to do that.

How to Switch Between Naoe and Yasuke: Story Choices

The first method is through the story itself. At various points in the main story, you will get the option to choose between Naoe and Yasuke. This is usually when, for instance, tackling an assassination target. If you prefer the shadowy route, go for Naoe. If you prefer to go in swords blazing, Yasuke is your best bet.

In addition to picking your protagonist for story missions, you also pick who you want to switch to after major moments for exploring the open world. This allows to continue as you’d like without having to go into the menu unnecessarily and switching there.

Speaking of the menu, there are a couple of ways to switch between Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows through the main menu. The first is by simply opening up the menu and going to the Inventory screen. It is here that you can change equipment and even characters. Controller players can hold down X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) to switch.

The other option is to head to the World screen in the menu. This is where you find the world map. All you need to do here is select one of the many fast travel points in the world and you can fast travel there as your current character or spawn at that point as the other protagonist, instead. Either method you use requires you to be anonymous to switch.
