How to Recruit Animals in LEGO Fortnite

To recruit animals in LEGO Fortnite, you need to build a Barn and gain friendship with the creature. However, the process is a bit more complicated than that, as there are a few hurdles you need to clear first before you can start farming in the sandbox mode.

Here are the steps to tame animals in LEGO Fortnite:

  • Get your Village to Level 2 to unlock the Barn building recipe.
  • Chop down trees to obtain 10 pieces of Wood.
  • Craft a Lumber Mill in “Build Mode” while in your Village.
    • Lumber Mill Recipe:
    • 8 Wood
    • 15 Granite
  • Interact with the Lumber Mill and craft 10 “Plank” with your 10 Wood items.
  • Access the “Build Menu” by pressing “Circle” (PlayStation) or “B” (Xbox) and tab over to the “Utility Menu”
  • Build the Barn
    • Barn Recipe:
    • 10 Planks
  • Find an animal in the wild and “Pet it” or “Feed It” by pressing “Square” (PlayStation) or “X” (Xbox).
  • Keep feeding and petting the animal to raise up its trust meter. After you have enough trust, feed him an Animal Treat. The snack can be made on a Grill at your Village.
    • Animal Treat Recipe:
    • 5 Vines
    • 3 Corn
  • After feeding the creature an Animal Treat, you have a limited time to get it back to your village. The easiest method is to build a vehicle in LEGO Fortnite and put it inside to drive it back. You can also use a fishing rod to drag it across the level.
  • Once the befriended animal is in your Village, walk up to your barn and press “Square” (PlayStation) or “X” (Xbox) to assign the creature to your farm.

How to Befriend Animals in LEGO Fortnite

To befriend animals in LEGO Fortnite, you need to raise their trust level to the max and then give them an Animal Treat. However, the game gives us a few options on how to gain a friendship with pets in the sandbox mode.

Whenever you walk up to an animal in the wild, you will see a prompt that says “pet.” Press “Square” (PlayStation) or “X” (Xbox). If done correctly, you should see a pink heart above their head. That means your trust meter is building up.

To feed them, you need to have a food item equipped from your inventory. Now, when you walk up to an animal, it should say “feed” instead of “pet.” Feeding them food raises their Trust meter quickly, so this is the best method. Once you have maxed out their trust, you can befriend the creature by giving it an “Animal Treat.”

It should be noted that you need to get your pet back to your Village as soon as possible after feeding it an Animal Treat. If you take too long, it will stop trusting you. Use a vehicle or fishing rod to drag it back to your safe spot. Finally, interact with the Barn you built earlier and assign the animal to it.
