How to Unlock the Recollection Trial and Extreme in FFXIV

To unlock the new Recollection Trial, you will need to first continue the main scenario, so I hope you are caught up with the main story. If you need to do the new Patch 7.2 story quests, you will begin by heading to The Backroom in Solution Nine once you complete the quest “Crossroads” and speaking to Krile at X: 6.0, Y: 6.4 to start “A Glimmer of the Past.”

From here, you just need to keep going through these quest, including doing the new The Underkeep dungeon, and you will be able to unlock the Recollection Trial. Note that you will need to have an item level of 715 or higher. Once you complete this Trial, you will then be able to speak with the Wandering Minstrel as always in Tuliyollal to unlock the Extreme version. It requires item level 730 or higher to do.

Recollection Trial Rewards, Explained

The rewards for doing the Recollection Trial and its Extreme are the reasons why you should be doing it in FFXIV. Of course, there is the obvious reason of being able to continue the main story. In addition to that, though, you will get the rewards of 20 Tomestones of Heliometry and 10 Tomestones of Mathematics upon completion.

That said, though, these rewards aren’t much at all. The bulk of the rewards from this Trial comes from the Extreme version. You can get the Zelenia Card for Triple Triad. You will also get one Knight Totem for each win. 10 of these will get you the special Queensknight Weapon for your job. There is also a Knight Core you can occasionally get, which allows you to make special Queen’s Knight Barding and other themed items. Finally, there is a new mount, but you can only find up to one per Recollection attempt.

Final Fantasy XIV is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
