There are so many different enemies you will come across in South of Midnight that will be challenging for you to take down. One of the optional ways to defeat an enemy in South of Midnight is to unravel them, which is something that every player should aim to do. Or, at least, most of the time, that is.

How to Unravel Enemies in South of Midnight
If you want to unravel an enemy in combat, what you want to do is simply get their HP bar all the way down to zero. Once you do this, the enemy will not immediately dissipate from being defeated. Instead, their body will stick around for a few seconds. During this time, you are able to unravel the enemies to finish them off.
This is an optional method of finishing off foes, as they will generally disappear regardless after a few seconds. To actually unravel the foes, though, what you want to do is press the Y button on controller when facing a defeated enemy and a short animation will play of Hazel finishing them off.

What Unraveling Enemies Does
The reason you will want to unravel enemies most of the time in South of Midnight is because of the benefits that come along with it. I will even prioritize unraveling foes in the middle of still fighting others because it is that useful. You will still get Floofs and other rewards for defeating foes no matter what method you choose, but unraveling gives you two key benefits.
The first is that it is possible to get some HP recovery back this way. This is very useful when you are in the middle of an arena fight against multiple enemies at once. You can focus on one foe at a time and unravel them to replenish HP and stay in the fight. In addition, unraveling also helps with the cooldowns of your abilities. This means you can then turn around and start unleashing spells on the other foes right after finishing off one.
South of Midnight is available right now for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
