Players will be able to upgrade their weapons as soon as they leave the tutorial area. Upon reaching Folca, you will be railroaded into speaking to a few choice NPCs, one of which is the town’s local Blacksmith. Naturally, to upgrade your weapons you will need to speak to the Blacksmith in order to increase it’s level. However, you will need a few choice items to do so.

In order to upgrade your weapons, you will need Fortitude Shards. These can be redeemed with Rafale Coins, which can be found in chests. Speak to Siero, who stands just opposite the Blacksmith. Additionally, Fortitude Shards can be given as rewards for side-quests or dropped by enemies or found on the map.

Once you have Fortitude Shards head back over to the Blacksmith and select the items you want to upgrade your weapon. As you progress the game you will be able to upgrade your weapons at restoration crystals found on your journey, which are big and green and pretty hard to miss. The more you level up your weapon the more materials you will need, so the amount of Fortitude Shards will increase.

Keep in mind that you can also upgrade the weapons of your companion characters in Granblue Fantasy Relink, so don’t funnel all of your Fortitude Shards into the main player character. Especially since you can use these companion characters in multiplayer missions, or even as the party leader. So use your shards wisely!

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. A demo is available on the PS4 and PC.
