HoYoVerse announced that it will recast the English voice of Tighnari in Genshin Impact. This news follows allegations against his original voice actor Elliot Gindi for sexual misconduct towards fans. The majority of those he harassed are minors. Gindi admitted to his behavior, with many of the Genshin Impact cast denouncing him online. More information on the new voice actor will appear once HoYoVerse finds a replacement.
Not only will Tighnari’s new actor voice him in all future content, but HoYoVerse plans on slowly replacing all of his in-game voice lines as well. The company stated that it is contacting the voice recording agency it partners with to find a new actor and record everything. The re-recorded lines will roll out gradually in subsequent updates, and HoYoVerse will keep fans updated on the progress.
Elliot Gindi is not the first voice actor that HoYoVerse has had to replace due to real-life misbehavior. Li Yuantao, who voices Oz in the Chinese version of the game, committed adultery and engaged in sexual relations with fans. HoYoVerse replaced him, with Fischl disappearing from in-game content for quite some time during the period of re-casting. Due to this, it is possible that Tighnari will not be a prominent character in events or the story while HoYoVerse sorts out the recasting issue with Gindi.
