Ikaruga Developer Treasure Will Make An Original Game For PC

Recommended Videos

Treasure are known for their classic arcade-style action games, such as Ikaruga, which was greenlit on Steam late last year. The good news is, it looks like we’ll be seeing more PC support from them, as Treasure president Masato Maegawa revealed that they have some ideas for making a new original game on Steam, in an interview with Famitsu.

During the interview, Famitsu asks if they plan on releasing more games on Steam.

Ikaruga is the first one, and we don’t intend on stopping there,” says Maegawa. “There are some players who say ‘How about Radiant Silvergun?’ but we also don’t intend to only do ports. We’re thinking of making a new original title for the platform, Steam.”

Next, Famitsu asks if that translates to “PC games for now,” while they continue developing those games for other hardware on the side for a later release, as far as their current strategy goes.

“That’s what we’re thinking,” answers Maegawa. “Not just because this is an interview about Steam, either. For a small company like us, it’s almost impossible to release the same title on all hardware, and on the same day. Well, our motto is still ‘make whatever you like, and release it however you like,’ after all, so we’d like to thank you all for your continued support.”

“A side-scroller action game might be pretty good…” mumbles Treasure chief director Atsutomo Nakagawa.

“Hey! We haven’t decided on anything, yet!” exclaims Maegawa to conclude the interview.
