Illvelo Swamp

Illvelo Swamp is a Psychedelic Shoot ’em Up Coming to Nintendo Switch

Today, indie shoot ’em up developer RS34, who is known for creating the Radirgy series, revealed the first trailer for its next game, Illvelo Swamp. It’s a brand-new game in the Illmatic Envelope series (also known as Illvelo), which originated as an arcade shoot ’em up developed by MileStone Inc. in 2008 that was later ported over to Nintendo Wii. Illvelo Swamp is currently only set to release on Nintendo Switch, and is set to release in Winter 2020.

Check out the trailer for the game below:

Illmatic Envelope was a game that focused on creating a psychedelic atmosphere alongside an early internet-inspired UI aesthetic. The game had 100 micro stages that had only one or two waves of enemies, and the stages would be played out of order. Think WarioWare, but with shmup gameplay.

Here’s a look at what gameplay for the first game was like (Thanks, M_Knight_Jul on YouTube!):

While MileStone went defunct in 2013, RS34 Inc. picked up where it left off in 2014, with the same key developers working at the new company. Since then, it has focused on developing shoot ’em ups like the Radirgy series, the latest of which was Radirgy Swag. The company also developed Illvelo Dillinjah, a downloadable 3DS title that released in 2014.

Illvelo Swamp will release on Nintendo Switch in Winter 2020.
