Some games are overlooked and some just aren’t found at all. That’s the case with Immortals, a PC MMORPG developed by Honor Games International. Immortals is set back 5,000 years ago in the age of Chinese mythology. Players start out by selecting one of four classes: humans, gods, demons or dragons then make an avatar. Character customization is built in from the start, each new character has thirty stat points to distribute as they please. If you want to make a magic using character set up your stat points towards spell power or make a fighting character by putting more of your points into strength. Besides assigning stat points players pick out one of five elements based on the Chinese Zodiac. Instead of slaying dragons, Immortals has quests based upon ancient Chinese stories. You might have to do battle with the Monkey god from Journey to the West or face the Heavenly Generals. One interesting addition to the hack, slash, cast gameplay are pets. Once you are a mid level character you will get a baby pet that can be raised into a fearsome beast. We had a chance to see a beta version of the game and it was easy to pick up. Similar to Diablo you can run up and attack monsters, buff your characters and cast area effect spells for some heavy damage. Unlike other MMORPGs Immortals seems to be fairly friendly to people playing in parties or trekking solo. We watched as one of the designers beat up some even level monsters alone. Currently Immortals has no planned release outside of Asia and its final build will be released in China later this summer. Check below for a trailer of the game in action.
