Inside Square-Enix's closed theater they showed trailers for three new titles in the Kingdom Hearts series.
The first trailer was for Kingdom Hearts Coded, a mobile phone game. The trailer began with two books and one said "We must return to free them from torment" on the last page. Jiminy Cricket runs over to Mickey with the book and the screen flashes to Destiny Island with Sora wearing his original costume. Now a look at the battle system, which looks just like a lower resolution Kingdom Hearts except for a debugging mode which makes a bunch of cubes appear.
Next trailer.
Sora enters Naimie's cocoon grasping the Oathkeeper. "The time of the other side…" flashes on the screen. Roxas takes center stage wearing his Organization XIII cloak and he is talking to Axel. Ah! This is going to be a Roxas spin off where you get to play in between Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II.
Some gameplay footage flashes on the screen. It's in 3D… Wait… Four player mode! Roxas, Axel and two other Organization XIII members are fightng shadows together. Now we're in the Organization XIII meeting room (FMV sequence) and a new member comes in. The face is covered by the hoodie, but she appears to be female. I'm taking a guess here by her(?) pinkish lips alone.
This game is for the DS and the title is Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
Next Kingdom Hearts trailer begins with the first game played in reverse. "The distant past…" headlines the game. I think you know where we are going with this. We're in Hallow Bastion now and there is a new character who looks sort of like Laguna with spikier hair. He's wearing a blue shirt and he is talking to Roxas. The "villian" from the KH 2: Final Mix + ending pops up casting spells. Good thing the new hero has a keyblade!
Gameplay time. The hero is fighting blue creatures that are not shadows. On the left side of the screen there is a rotating menu that lets the hero select spells and special attacks.
Now the hero in blue is on Destiny Islands looking at a young Sora and Riku fighting with sticks. The prequel spinoff is for the PSP and it's called Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.
Remember the scan we showed earlier? The picture where Mickey is holing the Starry Night keyblade is from Birth by Sleep.
