Is There Romance in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes?

One of the best parts of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the well over 100 characters you can recruit throughout the game. Of course, this selection includes plenty of attractive and alluring companions. But is there romance in Eiyuden Chronicle?

Are There Romance Options in Eiyuden Chronicle?

Let’s get right to the heart of the matter with this crucial question about the recent nostalgia-filled JRPG. No, there are no romance options in Eiyuden Chronicle. In fact, there isn’t even really any romance in the first place for the main character, at least. This might be quite disappointing.

Unfortunately, there is no way to pick which of the impressive entourage of characters, from Seign to Mellore to Cassandra and others to be the main character Nowa’s partner in life. Sadly, this is just not that kind of game at all. It is also unfortunate, too, given some of the characters’ arcs towards the end of the story.

Why Is There No Romance in Eiyuden Chronicle?

As for why there is no romance at all in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, it likely comes down to a couple of reasons. For one, the main Suikoden series Eiyuden takes its inspiration (and a large part of its staff) from didn’t have romance options in the earlier games either.

In addition, this is still the beginning of a new franchise. It is possible romance could be an option the series explores down the line. Furthermore, with so many potential recruits that would make for excellent love interests, that would add a lot more work on top of the gargantuan effort that was already put into making this game.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is available now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
