Japan eSports Union Reveals Japan vs Asia Cup Schedule, Adds Overwatch

Japan has been making a major push into eSports since last year, and in December, they announced that Japan eSports Union (JeSU) is working together with the Asia eSports Federation to hold a ‘Japan Elites vs Asian Elites’ Challenge Cup. Now, more information has been given regarding the schedule and included games. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

 

Previously, the games announced for the Cup were Winning Eleven 2019, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, and Tekken 7. JeSU announced today that Overwatch (PC version) is being added to the list of games, replacing CS: GO from the games list.

 

The Cup itself will be taking place this weekend together with Tokaigi 2019, from January 26-27, 2019. Here’s the full schedule over the two days:

Jan 26

10:30am – 12:30pm JST: Overwatch

JUPITER (Japan) vs Xavier Esports (Thailand)

3pm – 5pm JST: Tekken 7

Japan team (decided via prelims) vs Asia team (AK, Sora, Book)

 

Jan 27

11am – 1pm JST: Winning Eleven 2019

Japan team (Leba, SOFIA, Unannounced) vs Asia team (Charles_ng, Scarlet, Shagamoon)

2pm – 4pm JST: Street Fighter V Arcade Edition

Japan team (Tokido, Nemo, Fuudo) vs Asia team (NL, Oil King, Humanbomb)

 

The tournaments will be streamed via NicoNico Live, Openrec, and Twitch. The preliminaries for Tekken 7 will be streamed via Tekken Twitch Channel.
