Sony has Singstar, Microsoft has Lips, and Nintendo has Karaoke Joysound Wii. Hudson announced they were working on a karaoke game with optional downloadable content nearly a year ago, but nothing has been mentioned about it since. We should find out more soon because it’s apparently coming out on December 11 in Japan, according to a furtive release schedule change found on Hudson’s site.
We don’t have a song list or anything yet, but an early report says the game will have downloadable J-Pop songs. Obviously if, and this is a mammoth sized if, Karaoke Joysound Wii gets launched anywhere else the available songs will change. Total speculation, but I think a localized version of Joysound has a decent chance to come out. Hudson spent a considerable amount of time developing infrastructure to sell songs as downloadable content and Konami, Hudson’s parent company, is expanding their connections in music business with Rock Revolution.
