Katamari Damacy Creator Leaves Namco Bandai

Keita Takahashi, the creator of Katamari Damacy, left his post at Namco Bandai. After working on the sequel, We Love Katamari, Takahashi handed the series over to Namco Bandai for future games.

“It’s not that I don’t want to make games necessarily… it’s just that I don’t know that this will be a career for me. If I do the same thing for my whole life, I’ll become really narrow minded. So… I might make one more,” Takahashi said in 2006 interview with Gamasutra.

 

In 2009, Takahashi finished Noby Noby Boy, which was first released on PlayStation Network and later the iPhone app store. Speaking with The Setup, Takahashi said he is working on redesigning a park in Nottingham, UK and his job was making “video games for the so-so company Namco Bandai Games Inc.”
