USGamer recently had the opportunity to interview Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mighty No. 9 and brought up the possibility of the Mega Man spiritual successor supporting amiibo. Inafune responded positively to the idea of the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U versions of the game offering compatibility with the NFC figures, but didn’t confirm anything.

Inafune’s exact response to Jeremy Parish is as follows.

“That’s definitely an option for us, and if we have the opportunity to do it, then we’ll definitely take the chance. And also, we know for a fact a lot of our backers are Nintendo fans, because we ran a platform survey [for Mighty No. 9], and we see how many people are choosing Nintendo hardware. So it’s definitely something we have to look into. “

If Comcept and Inti Creates make Mighty No. 9 amiibo compatible, it will become the second third party game to support the NFC figures. The first is Shovel Knight, which will be receiving its own amiibo of its lead character soon.

Mighty No. 9 will come to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC on February 9, 2016 in North America and February 12, 2016 in Europe. It will also be released on the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita eventually as well.
