Kill La Kill: IF Is Made For Both Experienced And New Fighting Game Players

Recommended Videos

Recently, Kill la Kill: IF producer Takeshi Yamanaka sat down for an interview with 4Gamer at EVO 2018, where he talked about how the game is meant for a wide spectrum of players.

Here are the highlights:

4Gamer: Considering that the game was shown off here at EVO, how is it from a competitive standpoint?

Takeshi Yamanaka, producer: “We’re trying to make it so that experts are rewarded for their efforts with their techniques. We want to make it a game where even people bad with action games can have fun trying to read their opponent, but also provides additional challenges for experts.

I say ‘people bad with action games’, but we have made it so that the Story Mode is also a tutorial for the game, so players can learn the actions while they enjoy the story.”

4Gamer: We tried the game out just now, and we found the choice of using a fixed camera with both characters sharing the same point of view quite strange for a 3D versus game. Are the camera settings final?

Yamanaka: “We discussed the issue of the camera quite a bit back at the office, but we’ve decided to go with the camera as it is right now. However, there is an issue we discovered where it’s hard to tell if your character is in the foreground or background when they’re on the same axis, so we plan on making it easier to tell via the UI.”

4Gamer: In this demo, only Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin were available to play as. Who else is going to be added to the game?

Yamanaka: “I’m afraid I’m going to have to reply ‘no comment’ to this question. However, we really want to meet the fans’ expectations. We’ll be putting all our effort into this, so please look forward to future news… I hope you can accept this apology. (laughs)”

Kill la Kill: The Game IF releases in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and PC. You can find out more about the Rock-Paper-Scissors-like Ketsui Testament system from our previous report here.
