Sure it’s not as impressive as the total sales of Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, but Kingdom Hearts is doing well as Square-Enix’s “third pillar”. The Disney cross Final Fantasy action RPG has shipped over ten million units worldwide. A number that is substantially more than Square-Enix’s other beloved franchises like the Chrono series or Valkyrie Profile. Something interesting to note is that over half (5.6 million) units of Kingdom Hearts software was shipped to North America. Since North America has the lion’s share of Kingdom Hearts fans Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix + ought to have a market here. Let’s hope the rumor about Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix +’s North American release is true.
