Musou Stars producer Masaki Furusawa previously mentioned that he wanted to use “a bit of the Soft Engine” for the all-star game, and he delivered as promised during a recent NicoNico live stream event.
For those of you wondering what the heck is the Soft Engine, it’s basically a specially crafted engine by Team Ninja for visual enhancements to make skin look softer and show more elasticity (them jiggles).
It was first introduced in Dead or Alive 5: Last Round and was upgraded to “Soft Engine 2.0” for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. As producer Furusawa mentioned before, the one being used for Musou Stars isn’t on the same level of Dead or Alive Xtreme’s upgraded engine, but it’s more of a “lite” version as you can see in the above video from Famitsu’s recent stream.
Musou Stars releases in Japan on March 30, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
