Koji Igarashi Says The Status Of Bloodstained’s Wii U Port Is A “Very Complicated Problem”

Inti Creates’ Metroidvania game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is set to release worldwide early in 2018 for multiple platforms. However, in a recent interview with IGN, the game’s producer, Koji Igarashi, expressed his concerns with the relevance of the game’s Wii U version, considering the approaching release of the NX.

Seeing as that, by 2018, many Wii U users will have likely moved on to the NX, Igarashi noted that “it’s a very complicated problem,” further saying that certain pieces of hardware eventually become irrelevant. “And as a creator,” he went on to explain, “usually you want to make stuff for the new hardware. That’s the reality.”

However, while abandoning the Wii U port of Bloodstained seems the logical choice in this matter, the game was funded by many Kickstarter backers, and a Wii U version was part of that “promise” made by the developers. Despite this, Igarashi explained that, if the team does receive support from the majority of the game’s backers, they may indeed proceed down a different path and perhaps do things “that are maybe more interesting.”

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, and Xbox One in Q1 of 2018.
