In September and October 2024, the suspect sent multiple threatening messages to Nijisanji Vtuber event venues, as well as the Anycolor office in Akasaka, Tokyo. In these messages, he stated his intention to pour gasoline on and kill or injure crowds of people. During the police investigation, he admitted to this crime. The suspect had sent multiple complaints to Anycolor in the past as well. As this is a developing case and the police are still investigating, there’s no information regarding what his motive may be.

As a large and highly visible corporation in the entertainment industry (as well as one that’s had multiple scandals in the past), this is not the first time that Anycolor, as well as the Nijisanji Vtubers, had to deal with threats and potential danger. In September 2024, an audio engineer who collaborated with Anycolor took photos and videos of the company’s performers. That individual then went and leaked their identity to a third party. They also made defamatory statements against the talents in question.

More information on the case, including the motive of the perpetrator sending threatening messages to Anycolor, may come out in the future as police continue to investigate.
