Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s first DLC character, Piranha Plant, was recently added, but those of you who have yet to register your game to get the free fighter will have until later tonight to do so.
If you’ve yet to register your Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game to your Nintendo Account, for the physical version can do it by simply inserting the game into your Switch and highlight the game icon on the home menu. From there press the + or – button to access the options menu, then head to “My Nintendo Rewards Program” at the bottom and select “Earn Points (Game Card version only)” to finish.
After getting the points, you’ll receive a download code to get Piranha Plant via email associated to your Nintendo Account within 10 days. But keep in mind that you will have to register the game itself by 11:59pm PT tonight, January 31, 2019. The download code expires on June 30, 2019 at 11:59pm, so you’ll have some time to redeem it afterwards.
For those with the digital version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it is automatically registered and you’ll receive a download code if you haven’t already (Be sure to check spam folder.) From there, enter the code on the Nintendo eShop and you’re set.
Lastly, for those of you getting Piranha Plant, there’s been some save data corruption issues surrounding Piranha Plant and other characters in some of the Game & More section’s modes, so you might want to be careful until further notice. Read more about it in our previous report for more info.
