Cygames announced that the global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby now allows more daily borrows for Legacy Umamusume characters via our friends list. Previously, we were limited to up to three per day. The in-game announcement confirmed that on January 16, 2026, starting at about 3pm/5pm ET, that will go up to five.

There’s nothing that we’ll need to change to access the larger number of Legacy Umamusume borrows in the game. This will happen after the daily update.

In addition to being able to borrow up to five times, the first instance each day will be free. Typically, we need to pay Monies, the currency we earn by going through the Career or daily races, to borrow a Veteran Umamusume. This cost varies depending on if the friend you’re borrowing from is in your club and the rank of the character. The first time, regardless of those factors, won’t cost a thing. Since you only need to do one Career run per day for the daily mission rewards, this means there’d be no cost.

This comes as new Umamusume banners launched. Fine Motion is a Mile and Medium Pace Chaser who works best on Turf. She’s now available as a playable three-star character, following her previously appearing on a notable Wit Support Card. The newest SSR Stamina Support Card is Manhattan Cafe. It features a means of getting the Stamina Siphon skill from a Career Event. Both will join the general pool after those banners end on January 23, 2026. They follow the Christmas Oguri Cap and Biwa Hayahide alts.

Here’s the Fine Motion trailer.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is available for the PC and mobile devices worldwide.
