Lego announced the next major crossover building block sets will involve a Sanrio collaboration. Official sites are open in English and Japanese in the US and Japan. At the moment, all we know is that the items will appear in 2027, as the pages don’t offer too many details yet. This isn’t the first building set tied to the mascots. Jazwares and Kawada made some that are solid in the US as well. But it could end up being one of the biggest worldwide ones when they debut.
Things basically kicked off with a brief trailer that’s shown up on social media. Sanrio is the company that shared it in English. That features an animated short. Initially, we see Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody flying out of a Lego bag. After that, Pompompurin floats out of the bag and Cinnamoroll flies by. This suggests that all five characters could be featured among the first sets.
You can see that initial clip below.
The video doesn’t suggest if some other staples like Little Twin Stars, Badtz Maru, Pochacco, and Keroppi will also be part of the collection in some way.
As for other Sanrio building block sets, BLDR and Nanoblock ones are available for characters like Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll already. These are even available worldwide. One of the latest BLDR ones involves a bowling alley, bus, and bus stop with Badtz Maru, Keroppi, Chococat, My Melody, and Hello Kitty. As for Nanoblock sets, the most recent worldwide release involved Dreaming Angel versions of characters like Pochacco and Cinnamoroll. There are also NanoCharm series keychain charms featuring multiple characters, but those are blind boxes so you don’t know who’ll you’ll get.
The Lego Sanrio building block sets of various characters will show up in 2027.
