Let’s Get That Dragon Quest IX Delay Out Of The Way

No, Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito (Dragon Quest IX: Defenders of the Starry Sky) won’t come out in 2008. Instead of announcing the bad news at the Tokyo Game Show Dragon Quest Special Stage event Square Enix sent out a press release explaining Dragon Quest IX is slated for March 2009 in Japan. Dragon Quest IX will be the first game in the direct Dragon Quest series to debut on the Nintendo DS. Square Enix plans to utilize DS specific features like wireless connectivity, local and via Nintendo Wi-Fi, for co-op games. We don’t know if wireless play will be compatible with the US version. Actually, an international release has not been confirmed, but it’s a safe bet we will get Dragon Quest IX eventually.
