The Joan of Arc game for the PSP is clearly a reality now that Level 5 officially announced the title. The game doesn’t follow Joan’s life. Instead of battling the English, she’s fighting demons. Unlike Level 5’s other works which are action RPGs such as Rogue Galaxy and traditional RPGs (Dragon Quest VIII), Jeanne d’Arc is a strategy RPG. Some of Level 5’s innovations to the typical grid based combat system include squares called “burning sites” where players can deal more damage if they step on them. There is also “connection guard” where you can increase the defense of characters by grouping allies together. In between fights the game will have anime cutscenes as seen in the trailer for the game. Past the jump are even more screenshots of Jeanne d’Arc which comes out this winter in Japan.
