The news came with a story summary.

This world is called Horodyn, so named for its first king.
At the edge of a village surrounded by a huge forest lies the powerful stone Arcana, the source of all order in the world.
It is said that only one with power can acquire Arcana.
Slayers annihilate hordes of monsters so that they could lay their hands on Arcana.
What power does it hold within? And to what destiny is one with Arcana bound?

Square Enix promises simple, but brutal combat with tail slicing action. Monsters in Lord of Arcana are drawn by world famous illustrators. After you slice up everything in the game there’s still more to do. Downloadable content packs with new missions are in the cards. Curious? A playable Lord of Arcana demo is scheduled to hit Japan’s PlayStation Store on August 19.

Update: It’s official, Lord of Arcana is heading to North America too. Still no release date information, but the announcement from Square Enix USA mentions avatar creation and weapon crafting. How many weapons? Square Enix says “thousands”.
