Kain, Rydia, Edge, and Golbez will be in Lord of Vermillion II as summoned allies. A handful of characters from Romancing SaGa 2 made their way in the arcade game as well, presumably to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series. No big surprise here since the first game also had Square Enix cameos like Lenneth from Valkyrie Profile.
New to Lord of Vermillion II are icons from Magic: The Gathering. The Wizards of the Coast fantasy card game is mixing with Final Fantasy and a melting pot of other Square Enix franchises for the first time.
The sequel is slated to come out in Japanese arcades this August. No plans for a domestic release have been announced, but the partnership with Wizards of the Coast might be a sign that Lord of Vermillion II isn’t just for Japan. Including Magic: The Gathering characters seems like something the West would be more excited about than Japan. Also, Square Enix trademarked Lord of Arcana in the US a few months ago.
