LOZ Tears of the Kingdom Won Famitsu Dengeki Awards 2023

Kadokawa Game Linkage announced the winners of the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2023. Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the grand winner of this presentation, as the organizers chose it as the Game of the Year. It won the highest award, which also had Final Fantasy XVI, Armored Core VI, Street Fighter 6, and Resident Evil 4 Remake in the nomination list.

The development team behind Tears of the Kingdom also won the MVC award given to the best game developer or studio. This is the second award the team has received after previously winning the Special Award in CEDEC Awards 2023.

Even though The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won the most prestigious awards, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI received the most awards in this presentation with five titles in overall. Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, the horror visual novel that Square Enix also published, matched Tears of the Kingdom‘s award tally with three titles each.

  • Best Online Game: Final Fantasy XIV
  • Best Action Game: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
  • Best Action-Adventure Game: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • Best Adventure Game: Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo
  • Best RPG: Final Fantasy XVI
  • Best App Game: Honkai: Star Rail
  • Best Indie Game: Sea of Stars
  • Best Rookie: Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo
  • Best Esports Game: Street Fighter 6
  • Famitsu-Dengeki Special Award: Hi-Fi Rush and Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Most Anticipated Title in 2024: Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which won three awards in the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2023 including the highest Game of the Year award, is available worldwide exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Final Fantasy XVI, which won the most awards in overall, is readily available on PlayStation 5.
