A long time ago (in a galaxy not so far away), Nippon Ichi announced Makai Wars for PSP. Development moved to PlayStation 3… in 2005 and we haven’t heard about it since. Well, that’s if you don’t count Axel talking about Makai Wars in Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days.

Did Nippon Ichi cancel the game? Maybe not. The publisher filed a trademark for Makai Wars in Japan not too long ago. This was after Nippon Ichi registered a trademark for Criminal Girls, which is actually coming out for PSP.
If Nippon Ichi canned Makai Wars they probably wouldn’t have filed a trademark for the game. Perhaps, we’ll hear more about the PlayStation 3 version soon.
