Makoto Shinkai New Movie Suzume no Tojimari Release

New Makoto Shinkai Movie Suzume no Tojimari Will Release in November

Suzume no Tojimari, the new movie from Your Name director Makoto Shinkai, has received a November release date. The movie will debut in Japanese theaters on November 11, 2022. A new key visual also gives fans a first look at the film’s main heroine, a schoolgirl named Suzume.

The film first appeared during a reveal event back in December 2021. Shinkai described it as a modern road movie in which the protagonists will travel across Japan. The main character, Suzume, is a 17-year-old schoolgirl from the Kyushu region who meets a boy looking for a strange door. Upon finding the door and opening it, Suzume sets off a chain reaction that opens other mysterious doors across the country and causes havoc. The movie follows Suzume as she travels across the country to find and close these doors.

The new key visual shares some similarities with the first promotional image, but with a few notable differences. Firstly, the image now features Suzume front and center, looking behind her and holding a wooden chair. The door in front of her is also now open slightly, with a strange glow emanating from inside. The announcement tweet implies that the open door and wooden chair may hold some sort of hidden meaning.

New footage of the new Your Name director’s movie will appear during a premiere event on April 10, 2022, at 8 p.m. Japan Time (7 a.m. Eastern / 1 p.m. CEST). The movie premiere event will be available to watch on the Toho YouTube channel. The announcement tweet also shows off a still of Suzume walking in what looks to be an abandoned hot spring town.

The new Makoto Shinkai movie, Suzume no Tojimari, will release in Japanese theaters on November 11, 2022.
