NTT Group announced its service Manga Mirai, which let people buy series and volumes to read digitally, will close and shift existing users and their libraries to MangaPlaza. The official site noted those who want continued access to anything they bought will need to make a MangaPlaza account by September 30, 2026. The old service will shut down on December 15, 2026. Refunds are not guaranteed and are based on certain factors.
NTT Group didn’t note why the NTT Docomo’s Manga Mirai service is ending. It just immediately shut down purchases and user registration. It noted that some titles may not be migrated. Once that don’t transfer over and appear on MangaPlaza that someone paid for and didn’t get for free could be eligible for some sort of refund. People who don’t wish to transfer over to the NTT Solmare similar service can just not create an account or officially opt out.
As for refunds, NTT Group went over a few of the reasons someone might get some or all of their money back from digital manga purchases as a result of the shutdown. Since you need to be 18 and older to use MangaPlaza, users between 16 and 18 could qualify for a refund. Some series may not transfer over or no longer be distributed. It is possible a refund could happen as a result. People will be contacted by email if they could qualify in November 2026.
Manga Mirai service will be ending on December 15, 2026, and those who want continued access to series they bought will need to sign up for MangaPlaza by September 30, 2026.
