Manhattan Could’ve Been 28 Days Later Meets New York City For PS3

Sony Computer Entertainment Cambridge’s art director Jason Wilson revealed a pitch for a game called Manhattan. The concept for Manhattan was a first person survival horror game where players had to escape the city after a 28 Days Later virus turned people into zombies. The goal of the game is to escape and bring other survivors to checkpoints. Manhattan was on the drawing board back in 2006 when the PlayStation 3 launched.

With zombie fever taking over the media, I wonder if Manhattan would have been a hit for Sony.

Sometimes different teams, separated by an ocean can come up with the same concept in parallel. Revolution 4, another pitch from Sony Cambridge, sounds like Resistance: Fall of Man, but the studio had no idea that Insomniac was developing a War of the Worlds style alien invasion game with Sony Computer Entertainment America. SCE Cambridge’s idea for Revolution 4 was an alien invasion in the UK staring an everyman character. The invasion starts in King’s Cross while buildings collapse around them.
