The January PlayStation Plus games have been revealed and the general theme seems to be war. The PlayStation 4’s Hardware: Rivals, PlayStation 3’s Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and PlayStation Vita’s Legends of War: Patton are all on the plate. However, there are three other titles that are slightly less violent. Most notable is Grim Fandango Remastered.
Grim Fandango Remastered will be a PlayStation Plus freebie for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita owners. It’s a film-noir sort of adventure starring Manny Calavera. He works for the Department of Death, arranging trips for recently departed people in The Land of the Dead to the ninth Underworld. It covers four years in his life as he investigates a criminal ring that’s giving undeserving people quick trips to the afterlife, stealing them from those who deserve it.
The other two PlayStation Plus games for January are Dragon Age: Origins for the PlayStation 3 and Nihilumbra for the PlayStation Vita. Dragon Age: Origins is a Bioware RPG where players control one of the last Grey Wardens, the only warriors capable of properly fighting waves of the corrupted undead, rising from the underworld in a Blight upon the land. Nihilumbra is a port of what was originally an Apple iOS platformer where the lead character, Born, goes through five worlds. Each one includes a new color that provides Born with a new ability. For example, the color Red can damage enemies and items, burning them.
All six of the January PlayStation Plus games will be available for free for subscribers starting January 5.
