Many kinds of monkeys to control in Ape Escape: SaruSaru Daisakusen

Sony recently updated their website for Sarugetchu: SaruSaru Daisakusen, a new Ape Escape game where you fly around in a helmet and take control of the Piposaru. The Ape Escape series is known for having a creative selection of monkeys (the Spider-Man clone seen in Ape Escape 3!) and Sarugetchu: SaruSaru Daisakusen introduces the Salaryman Saru who has an unknown special skill. The other monkeys are predictable, a mer-monkey, the dashing monkey who wears blue shorts and a caveman monkey.

I like how Sarugetchu: SaruSaru Daisakusen is bringing the Ape Escape series back to its roots after a series of mediocre Ape Escape: Academy games. It comes out in Japan on June 26, 2007 and no North American release date has been announced. After the lukewarm reception of Ape Escape 3, Sony hasn’t made any Ape Escape announcements about Ape Escape: Million Monkeys on the Playstation 2 and Ape Escape P, a PSP racing game. Good thing the PSP is region free!
