Two more games have been added to Nintendo’s Virtual Console in North America. Nintendo Wii U owners can now pick up a digital copy of Mario Strikers Charged compatible with the GamePad. Meanwhile, New Nintendo 3DS owners will see Super Castlevania IV in the eShop.
Mario Strikers Charged is the sequel to Super Mario Strikers and appeared on the Nintendo Wii in 2007. Players follow 12 captains and eight sidekicks as they play a game of soccer in one of 17 stadiums. The seven classic stadiums remain the same, but the 10 arenas new to the game each have their own tricks and nuances. In addition to multiplayer modes, it has Road to the Strikers Cup, Domination, and Striker Challenge singleplayer modes. Mario Strikers Charged is $19.99 on the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
Super Castlevania IV was the first Castlevania game on the Super Nintendo, released back all the way in 1991. Simon Belmont has been sent off on his family’s traditional quest to slay Dracula. Players follow him through 11 stages, relying on his trademark whip and secondary weapons to defeat the monsters that get in his way. It’s best remembered for its improved control scheme, as this entry allowed the whip to be used in eight directions, as a shield against projectiles, or as a means of grappling. Simon’s jumps were also more easy to control, allowing him to climb stairs from a jump. Super Castlevania IV is $7.99 on the New Nintendo 3DS eShop.
