Despite her selfish nature, the princess star of Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru has no problem finding friends. From the cockatiel on her shoulder and the guard assigned to watch in her shadows (who is repeatedly impressed by the princess' abilities) to a random little slime who decides to follow her, the princess is undoubtedly popular. As I mentioned before, my friend purchased the game, and he not only answered my questions about the environment altering features, but also the princess' traveling companion.
The slime is an interesting character. While he's considered something of a pet, he's also a control-able party member. When he first joins, he's a bit weak. (In fact, he'll probably die in the first battle or two.) After you defeat a few enemies with him, that changes.
The slime doesn't level up – instead, he absorbs parts of enemies that might be left behind after battle. These body parts (for example he can take on a head, legs, arms and a torso) will increase his stats, allow him to use new magic spells and equip weapons or armor.
There is a downside to all this. If the princess dies (causing the player to be sent back to town) or the slime dies, he loses all of the body parts he has gathered. This means the player has to start over from the beginning, rebuilding the slime into a perfect, monstrous warrior. As long as you save often, you'll avoid that hazardous pitfall.
