Mega Man Starforce Series Developer Shinsuke Kodama Leaves Capcom

Former Capcom developer Shinsuke Kodama returned to Twitter after a one year absence on March 2, 2020 in order to announce that he left the company at the end of February 2020. The developer is credited for working on several games in the Mega Man series, as well as the Great Ace Attorney series and Lost Planet 2.

In particular, Kodama was a planner and scenario writer for Mega Man Battle Network 6 and had quite a bit of influence on the entire Mega Man Starforce series. In Mega Man Starforce, he was a game designer, while in Mega Man Starforce 2 and 3 he was the scenario writer. A character inspired by him, named Legendary Master Shin, appeared in the first two games in the Starforce series, and Kodama himself would wear the same clothing to events where he was the MC.

Onto his Ace Attorney contributions, he was a game designer on Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and a planning lead on The Great Ace Attorney. Most recently, he was the director of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, which was released in 2019.

According to Kodama, he left Capcom to pursue new challenges. However, he’ll go on helping promote the Ace Attorney series from outside the company via retweets of release info and the like.
