On the Persona 2: Innocent Sin blog, composer/PSP version director Shoji Meguro discussed the game’s new music. He reflected on the decision of making Persona 1’s PSP soundtrack Persona 3 chic and decided to give players a choice between background music. As mentioned before, you can toggle between original and remixed music in Persona 2: Innocent Sin.
Meguro arranged over 100 tracks for the PSP version. While the differences for some songs may sound subtle, instruments that the PsOne’s cheap sound processor couldn’t handle were replaced. Meguro mentions swapping crude guitar tones for with sounds from the latest synthesizer. The only element Meguro apologizes for is not being able to implement a lovely end of battle them due to a clash of program resources.
Next time, Meguro says he’ll talk about the new opening video made by Macross Frontier studio Satelite and the difficulties of porting.
