Konami will hold Metal Gear In Concert 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, on October 11. The concert will also be watchable through live streaming for the first time ever. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
At the Metal Gear In Concert, the audience will watch an orchestra performance of music from all five mainline Metal Gear Solid games, as well as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The 2020 concert will be performed by Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Hirofumi Kurita. Donna Burke will also be present to once again sing the theme songs, such as “Snake Eater” and “Heavens Divide”.
If this concert is able to be held without a hitch, it means Metal Gear In Concert will have been held for four consecutive years in Tokyo since 2017. Other than Tokyo, the concert was also held in Osaka in 2017, Paris in October 2018, New York in March 2019, and Los Angeles in April 2019.
Of course, as this concert is going to be held in a year with a pandemic going on, the organizers posted measures to prevent infections in the venue on the Japanese official website. The measures include limiting the audience up to 50% of venue capacity, intensifying sterilization and ventilation, and refusing access to anyone who measured over 37.5 degrees Celcius in body temperature. Everyone who attends the concert live will receive a face mask with the Metal Gear In Concert logo emblazoned on it.
Also, for the first time ever, this concert will be available to watch remotely with a live streaming ticket that is sold at 3,500 yen. The concert will be streamed exclusively on the j-stream platform for those who bought the ticket on Kyodo Tokyo, and Streaming+ when purchased from eplus. Live streaming ticket owners can also watch a recorded archive of the concert until October 14, 2020.
Metal Gear In Concert 2020 will take place at Tokyo International Forum Hall A in Tokyo, Japan, on October 11, 2020. The concert will begin at 17:00 JST (4:00 AM EDT) and will last for about 2 hours and 30 minutes (including 20 minutes of break).
