The delay will set back the release of Metal Max Xeno Reborn from July 9, 2020 to September 10, 2020 in Japan.  This marks the second delay after its initial release date of March 26, 2020 in Japan. However, the company didn’t go too much into detail about the delay, other than the reason being due to COVID-19. The developers also shared a deep apology to all parties that looked forward to the July 9 release.

Metal Max Xeno Reborn is a remake of Metal Max Xeno which released in Japan in September 2018 for PS4 and PS Vita. It was first teased with a trailer with the subtitle “True End of Century, Born” on the PlayStation YouTube channel. Kadokawa revealed the game as Metal Max Xeno featuring hentai artist Oda Non for the character art.

Development for Metal Max Xeno originally started when series creator Hiroshi Miyaoka wanted to “go back to basics” for the series to create a different kind of Metal Max game. This came shortly after working with a new team for the mobile game Metal Max: Fireworks. Miyaoka wanted to do something a little different for the series after seeing poor sales for Metal Max 4.

Metal Max Xeno Reborn will release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on September 10, 2020. In case you missed it, get a closer look at the Wild Bus and Red Wolf vehicles.
